Recently bought a focus estate for herself,it went through the nct two weeks ago and had to be retested for 2 minor incursions.
Retested today and passed, got my cert....
VALID UNTIL END OF MAY 09. WTF??
Promptly rang the call centre and some little sneering upstart tells me "tough luck, when you buy a 2nd hand car you also buy it's history"
Seems that the nct had lapsed some months ago, but the bloody car was sitting in the dealers lot for at least six months!!
Contacted the dealer who apologised for not informing me at the time of purchase and he agreed to cover half the cost of the NCT, but he also promised me that he would raise the matter at SIMI level. He also said that I was the first case of this that he had come across, although he did accept that maybe other cases didn't bother to complain.
My question is, what if The car was purchased after a two year lapse on NCT?? When you get it tested and passed, do you then have to re-submit the car for testing as that test probably only covers you for the past two years and not the forthcoming two years..if you get my drift
Anyone??
