Their's a varta acid battery in my car now, loose and dosent fit and has no clamp.

Went to a local motor factors today and the manufacturer that supplies their batteries recommends a acid battery.

Where can I get the correct battery please, any where in IRL

Acid battery will do once its secured properly but Gel battery would have been original one as its sealed so no gas escapes in to boot/cabin area.Panasonic are popular gel ones but I am sure there are other brands

Acid battery in mine also. Original battery is pretty expensive

They also have the Westco brand for another £20, if the battery already fitted is in good order I’m sure Robert will be able to sort you out with the tray/clamp and probably the vent tube you’re missing

It's a varta battery, not cheap.

You guys think it'll be OK and my booth won't suffer from corrosion?

it likely will if its not vented I'm afraid.
I picked up a Westco last time round from here :

I'm going to get a vented battery box altogether, them gel batteries are a mad price.

Hi James, mine is a varta fitted by previous owner January 16

the vent tube is there but there’s no vent on the battery to connect it to

I checked the Varta website and this is their recommended battery for mk1 NA

so it looks like I’ve got the correct one ,thankfully ,so I’m sure if yours is the same then all you need is the clamp to hold it in place. I put some cardboard under mine(would rather rubber sheet but haven’t any) as being wary of over tightening it,it stops the slight movement of the battery in the tray

So this is the battery in my car (not a varta like I thought).

I think this one can be vented to outside.

Should be ok, the pics show the vent , if the tube isn’t there I’d think windshield washer tube might do, it goes down through the floor between the battery and tail light

Think I'll just get a universal clamp and keep this battery.

The vent tube has a plastic grommet so will be looking for a OE vent tube, there's just a hole where the vent tube goes into the floor now.

How does that vent tube gromet attach to the floor, does it pop in.

Is the grommet missing, if so you could just put the tube through the hole and duck tape it , it isn’t under any stress so once it’s secure and the hole sealed you should be ok
