Just realised, obvious I know, that in 3 years time my car will qualify for classic tax, €56 per annum.!!
What's the betting that some twat in some government department will either change the age criteria or cost of the classic tax before I get there??
The exorbitant tax rate is one of the reasons I only use the car for track at the moment..that and the need for some remedial work on the sills....but the classic tax will definitely be an incentive to put her back on the road...
Roll on 2021 !!

5 years for mine. Can't wait! It'll make a BIG difference to running the car...... and may even add some value to the cost of early cars too

They should definitely increase in value once they get over the 30 years mark. I believe recent law changes may mean that the NCT will be every 2 years and not yearly when the 30 year thing has been reached. Has anybody else heard of this ?

Haven't heard that.... though could be a possibility, considering that even older cars don't require an NCT at all (which, although I benefit from that system, I think is a bit bonkers!).

I've heard or read somewhere recently that the government were making slight changes regarding cars over 30 and 40 years old which benefit the owners.
I'll try to dig it out.......

"From 2020 cars and commercial vehicles over 40 years of age will be NCT & Doe exempt. From May 2018 vehicles between 30-40 years old will have to undergo a test every two years. Two great points from this is it’s a rolling rule and secondly commercial vehicles which are only used for private use will be included. "
