Stolen/Recovered

Hi all, apologies for the long post, looking for some advice.

Car was stolen Tuesday at 4am. Thankfully was recovered but I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to go from here.

The bodywork seems OK in general. Splitter is destroyed and bumper is pretty beat up. Rest of the panels seem to be grand and aligned, bonnet and boot opens no problem. Looks like the radiator is pushed back a bit at the bottom. Hard top was taken. Wheels/ Tyres seem fine. Wasn't able to look underneath but the above tells me (perhaps incorrectly) that the chassis is OK. Glass will be covered by insurance I hope.

The ignition is in a state from where they hotwired it but not as bad as I expected (sorry the picture is awful, steering wheel got in the way...) Interior seems relatively OK.

I assume the clutch will need to be replaced more than likely but hoping the car stopped before they ruined it completely.

Under the hood it looks like the radiator hose popped off and the coolant reservoir is empty. There was still water on the front tray.Plus side might be that it stopped them from wrecking it more, downside is potential engine damage...

Any thoughts? I imagine its fixable but not really sure on the cost. Would be a waste to go through insurance I think.

Finally, I've no where to store it besides on my driveway. If I was to take it home and try to get it going again what would be the best course of action? Try and get it turning over and get an alarm installed? I can keep it in the recovery place until 5pm tomorrow so if anyone has any ideas on what else to look for you can let me know.

Thanks for reading!

jeez, sorry to hear it!!
Yeah, get it home first, then work on getting it started, check the clutch and suspension arms and the rest is cosmetic.
I'm sure Robert will be able to fix you up with the parts you need to get going again.

Sorry to see this. That's awful. Hopefully you can get it repaired. At least you are ok that's the main thing.

Hi guys,

Thanks for kind words.
I'll probably have Andrew/Robert take a look at it and see if they can get it going and take it from there. As you said, the cosmetic things are secondary and something I can properly sort out handily enough.

Yea it could definitely be worse Dave, they moved my other car that was boxing it in but didn't damage it at all thankfully. They also didn't burn it out!
I'll keep ye updated on the progress anyway

Just saw this on Facebook, Paul - that's SHITE. Really sorry to hear it. It's bad enough taking the car to joy ride, but there is no call for the stupid, wilful, and needless damage caused to your car. I think most options have been covered - and I would agree with trying to get an idea of the cost to repair before making a claim on your insurance.

Best of luck with getting things sorted out.

Really sorry to hear your bad news.
Too many scumbags not prepared to work to get what they desire.
Hopefully you can sort it.
