anyone got a good source for toyo proxes tr-1's 195/55/14.

They had them on eire tyres but they dont seem to stock them now.

Rang a local toyo dealer, he started a 400 a set and the came down to 360 but this still seems too expensive, they can be had for around 40ish stg in the uk which is a huge difference.

Ideas anyone?

Just got mine from them too. Got a set of Nankang ditchfinders for £30 a corner - fitted and balanced for a further €50. Job done for around €200. Regretting not getting better tyres a bit, but that's just an excuse to roast them on a track-day in a few months.

what are the correct OE tyre sizes for a '5 (std alloys) ?

I might have to get at least a pair, next week for the NCT.

See lot's of references to Toyo's, but tbh not looking for super low-profiles - roads near me are shocking, so need a bit of comfort. Don't do big miles, so longevity not a big priority. (look at this way......the 5yr old remoulds are just handing in their notice !!  )

So, what say ye ?

185/60 R14 I think is the original 14" wheel tyre size.

I bought 4 new tyres from these guys on Fri for the Heep (Toyo Open Countrys incidently), they arrived on Tues via courier, Francis from Clonboo tyres popped out and fitted +balanced them while I was at work. Handy!

heheh not quite :D

Yeah I did ask, his prices were good vs other local suppliers but 326e delivered for 4 235/75 R15 tyres is hard to beat.

His call out service is 60e for fitting + balancing.

Is there a std steel rim I could get to fit the '5, offset and PCD-wise, whilst I'm refurbing my OE alloys ?

I'm thinking about 185/65 x 14, or maybe 195/60 x 14's - not looking for low-profile look

Yeah loads, Std toyouta starlett wheels for a start, don't forget the centre bore size as well. mx5 is 54,1mm so that or bigger and you fine.
They are 4x100pcd. Offset isn't going to be a huge factor with steel wheels tbh. If they are temp then it won't make a huge difference.
