Cheers for all the info ladies and gents!

I am definately back on the horse, in the saddle and driving away. But what a few seconds of fear and dare I say fun????

Ivan your words were the same as my dad who always told us to 'drive the bend'......which I did....and break gently before the bend.....which I did....but the beast and the road went behind my back and decide to take me for a spin!!!!!

You see I had a quiet childhood where I didn't drive till I was 24 so never had a chance to do 'doughnuts' or any dangerous activities whatsoever!!!

though I still have my modello voucher so I might get that used up before the wat-wex run.....just to iron out any last twinges!!!

Keep on truckin'!!!!!!

Val :salut:

Hi Val
Stiffiening the rear would actually make the car more inclined to oversteer!
You would actually want to soften it or stiffen the front. Personally i wouldnt do either.
Give me a shout when your headin to mondello, Im an instructor there!

Now that's exactly what I live for. try to do it more often and you'll learn to control it. At this stage I can do controlled drifts around roundabouts, etc. It's a great sensation. You'll know when you can and when you can't and it'll really make you feel better driving your 5 when you are in total control.
Keep sliding 8)
I go rally driving every year in monaghan and they'll teach you how to drift round corners. Been doing it now for 6 years on the trot and I'll give you some tips next time we meet.
Main thing don't take you foot off the pedal, just slightly lift your foot and it'll straighten out. Taking your foot off the throttle and the engine will give your car a draw back and force a spin the otherway (that's how rally drivers force the back to kick-out on 4-wheel drive cars) just watch a rally and on severe bends you'll see they start a drift by a quick steering action opposite of the required direction, which is rappidly followed by the oppisite to kick the back out in and allow the perfect drift round a corner.

Hi Adam and Cloggy,

My mother and sister would probably kill ye both!! My mum is petrified of the mx5....but really enjoyed a roofless drive last sunny sunday while my oldest sis absolutely hated a two minute spin in the beast!!!! So you can imagine that they would be horrified to know that I would be taught how to do powerslides!!!! Hmmmmmm...........what they dont know...............hmmmmm.

Adam, I am seriously behind on time on the mondello voucher. It expired on the 2/2/09 so I am going to pay the extra to get it reinstated and then hope to get there soon....havent forgotton to use your name in vain!!!

Thanks lads,

Val
