The idea has been thrown around a few times if I recall but never actually acted upon. We had hoped that something would materialise this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary but mazda decided not to roll in behind us, even though they are the main sponsors at the circuit.
It's only down the road from me and the management there were very accomodating to us on last year's Kildare/Wicklow run when they allowed us to visit the circuit as spectators for a few hours, albeit a motor cycling event was on that day.
Anyone wanna research cost and terms of trackday @ mondello and post it up here??

I'd say 3000 to 5000 euro min for a half day rent of the circuit.

Insurance, marshals, ambulance... It all adds up. I think the 200sx and VAG club have trackdays sometimes, best to join in with one of them.

I had an offer from one of the Mini Clubs last Year to row in with them. AFAIK they are going again this Year. I'll check and see what the story is

TSCNI are a great club. If i lived in the north I'd be a member.

Kirkistown can be rented for about 50% of what mondello is asking. A biker I know rented the track for him and a few mates. It's a bit far for some of the members here unfortunetly.

Hi Guys,

I'm Tom and I organise some of the events for the Honda S2000 Owners of Ireland.
We are currently organising a Driver Training session/trackday at Mondello park.
We would like to extend the invitation to MX5 owners that would join us.
If anyone feels like joining in please feel free to pm me for more details.

Mods I apologise if I am breaking any rules here please feel free to edit or remove as you see fit :)

Hi Steve,

We haven't an exact date set as yet but I am hoping before the end of May and probably mid-week.
I've been in touch with Mondello and we are trying to organise a morning session of Driver training followed by a Private open pitlane trackday session in the afternoon.
In order to hold a half day Driver Training session we need a minimum of 10 cars and the cost will be approximately €50*
In order to hold a full day split 50/50 between Driver training and Trackday we need 20 cars and the price will be approximately €150*

I am hoping that between both OCs we can have a Driver Training/Open pit session. But I will ask that everyone keep in mind that this will be a training session and the track driving experience will vary greatly across the group. So a little mutual respect will go along way!!

No dates have been set and as mentioned above I'm open to all suggestions

* Exact prices can not be issued until Mondello have received finalised numbers.

So what difference is there between whet you have suggested and doing the same thing using Mondello alone???

Hi sidewaysreilly,

Good question!
Mondello regularly run trackdays for a similar price, but those tend to be open days.
In the past we have found that open days put allot of our members off, due to the wide range of cars, speeds and driving styles in attendance. The aim of this day is to train everyone to have a basic understanding of track etiquette in the morning and let them develop those skills further in the afternoon session. This day might not suit those that do several trackdays a year ( although they are welcome) but will give those with less on track experience the time and space to feel comfortable.

I hope this helps
Tom

I've done both days in mondello, a trackday training day which was very good and a full trackday with the octane lads, even though it was my first full trackday it was brilliant, everyone was very respectful to each other, I was abit intimated at first as there was lotus's, Ferrari's, Porsche's, fully track prepped cars, etc, and there was me with my little 1.6 mx5, saying that there was a few other 1.6s, diesels etc too, but since the day is spread out not all cars will be out the same time and even when there is a few together, the slower cars will let you pass and you can let the faster cars by and still have great fun. I would deffinently be interested in doing another trackday, I wouldn't mind what type as you could still pick up some bits on the training day but I'd rather a full/half day :D

I was speaking with the owners of Whitriver Karting and they say they may allow a limited number of mx5's out for a 1/2 day . Would have to be mid week tho as there are regular IKC races there at the weekends . If enough people are interested ill organise something.

Its all here...... http://www.whiteriver.ie/
