Actually, I've got a loose connection somewhere between battery and alternator, and every now and then I lose charge - without getting a warning light. Rescue services come along and diagnose a new battery and new alternator, and my local garage fixes the problem in 10mins, without replacing either. Annoyingly repetitive though.

On a more serious, and less draughty note. Yes it is a good garage, but I did put some effort into getting it - not before I'd spent lots of money and had a few nasty suprises elsewhere.

This time my car 'whisperer' came to the rescue yet again. Swapped in alternative battery and alternator; and ruled out both as problems. Finally called in an electrics guru, who diagnosed some old wiring as the crux.

Faulty wiring's been replaced, car's back on the road and hopefully will stay that way when I kick the ignition in about 4 hours' time.

Time for some zzzz's I think!

Now don't laugh, this won't be very technical. Standing at the nose and looking under the bonnet, the dodgy wiring was on the driver's side - deep under the hood towards the driver and 'out of sight'. Ring any alarms?

I've got a suspicion it might be linked to the aerial or radio - both of which I got replaced recently. Driving the car today, I noticed the radio reception's gone to pot since the repair - I might as well have no aerial.

I'm mad busy at work and travelling abroad for a wedding, so had put it on my 'to do' list, for when I get back to normal. If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it.

I still haven't replaced my music collection which was stolen recently (previous posts), so with no radio, I am now surviving with one lonely single cd of Santana.

Solved the 'wiring' problem with the radio. It just needed tuning. Fortunately I hadn't made it back to the garage. "OK, I'll go now" says Teena - talking very softly.....

Yeah, wiggling the wiring here can uncover this fault. Good you got it sorted!
