The 3gs is the one I am talking about steve, I think vodaphone will be out much quicker than that. The brother in law will have one on voda after Xmas. You can get a battery jacket that extents the life.

I've had the Samsung Tocco and the iPhone too, great phones. Def go for the iPhone if you want gadgets.
I went for the Samsung Jet as I like the interface, size, speed (800mhz), the Camera (5MP, but its the quality + the amount of settings/features that is the real draw here), mini usb port, 3.5mm audio jack (5.1srs), mini SD card, FM Radio, wifi, gps, etc. The Samsung App store is opening soon if you want more widgets, apps etc.
The screen resolution is the best I've seen on a mobile.. its really (really) sharp.

The iPhone has all that too steve except the sd card
but you don't need it. You have other options to do the same job.

Hi Ivan... tell me more about the iPhone battery jacket. Is it heavy/cumbersome...? Can you recharge the phone and the xtra battery at the same time?

Almost.. I did look at the new one but a (generic) mini-usb port and a camera with 5MP at least was a stipulation (I take LOTS of pics though..), that plus the lack of mini-sd (I use them for work + media) swung the Samsung for me.

I like the look of the Pixon 12 though

I ended up with an Ipod 32gb for Christmas. Also got a great pair of undercrackers, which is timely as my current set were nearing the end of their lifespan (12 years).

The IPod is pretty much what an iPhone is minus the telephony part. If you're looking for 'gadgetry', then it really is a nice little 'do everything' device. Browsing the internet over wifi is an absolute breeze. Does all the basics (which I would define as standard sites (news.bbc.co.uk and mx5ireland), Facebook and Youtube). The only thing I hate about it is iTunes. It tries to help get music on and off the ipod, but really just gets in the way. And hogs your PC. Apart from that, the Apple interface is much nicer than the equivalent Blackberry or Microsoft Smartphone options.

If you want a phone that does everything, and is a fab little media device, the Apple is the one to go for. Pity about being locked into using iTunes though.
