The tunnel is actually at Folkstone, just short of Dover, just off the m20. The road from Rosslaire/Pembroke (south wales) is slighty closer and slightly more interesting (for 45 mins!)

I'm thinking taking an ave journey time to Rosslaire 2 hours, 3.5 hours on the Ferry, 6 hours to Folkstone plus 35 mins on the train. Total 12 hours. Ferry to France 23 hours!

I'm sure we could plan a total cross country trip avoiding motorways the whole way which would be much more exciting :D and manage to extend the total road time to match ..

after all it is a ROAD Trip!!

Well the best time for the ring is a mid week session and around the end of april
first week in may after that it just gets too busy. Before that it's too snowy.
Or go for the end of the year Sept. oct..

This is where the sh*t starts to hit the fan.

Unfortunately I'm not available for the first two weeks of May, prior commitments:

working on the technical end of things.

A bit more serious than a panto horse, but that's no longer relevant, see above post

Sorry to drag this back on topic but dates??

I did a bit of digging last night and the price could be different depending on what day of the week we travel to the UK.

Ivan suggested we plan to be at the Ring midweek and travelling through the UK over the weekend. That's going to add to the costs I think unless IF have promised a special offer irrespective of what day we travel.

It sounds like our open dates are April 19th to May 29th and that's 5 possible weekends. Let's decide on the day of the week we are leaving and returning and then post up a poll to see what suits most people.

What d'ya reckon .. ???

well it's the track opening times that will most affect travel plans.
We want to avoid track weekend days. They are just too busy and with crashes
etc the track can be closed half the day.

I think as a suggestion it would be grand to leave here on a sunday or monday
take it handy across the uk, stay somewhere south of london over night.
On to the track the next day to arrive that evening. Have 2 days at the track
if we get enough of it the first day we can go elsewhere the second.
Then one long run home the last day
