plenty of hotels in the Midlands. Try the Athlone Springs, they may have deals. Why not try Tullamore (we could meet up!), Days Hotel is excellent and should be good value. Paschal

Thanks Paschal, I'm in Tullamore regularly (Daingean rd) so will give a shout next time. Its the Shannon we're chasing this time.

Ta Sean will give them a bell.

Steve -Wineport Lodge north of Athlone - most rooms with view of lake and decorated in a wine theme from different parts of the world - also the Radisson on the river in Athlone has lovely rooms with river views and a lovely wooden deck outside for sipping pints of cider and watching the boats go past

The Hudson Bay on the Shannon, just outside Athlone is gorgeous and has a small marina and beautiful Spa. (The entire FF front bench can't be wrong).

In Portumna there's the gorgeous Shannon Oaks Hotel & Country Club.
Climbed Elbrus, Island Peak, Kilimanjaro, Elgon, Everest BC, Mulhacen, Elgon, Kayaked the Liffey to the Nile, swam the Liffey, the Lee & packed ten triathlons into a year... catch me blogging on: http://www.teenagates.com

Thanks!
Tried a few of the above suggestions, all booked out, so booked into the Sheraton (looks nice enough).

My wife stayed in the Sheraton last year for a weekend - had lots of good things to say about it - except for all the hen and stag parties
