Back from Europe

Postby Paschal » Sun, 20 Jun 2010 12:54 +0000

Just back last week from 12 days driving around Europe in the MX5. My son and myself headed for Rosslare, ferry to Cherbourg, drive to Cannes (via Lyon), from Cannes to Berlin via Italy, Switzerland & Austria. From Berlin headed to Amsterdam and then onto Paris via Burges. Finally headed back to Roscoff for ferry home. Just over 3,000 very enjoyable miles, mostly with the top down. Driving through Switzerland was just amazing, the Alps are fantastic. MX5 behaved itself very well, no problems at all. Some photos attached

Would recommend it, we wanted to visit the main cities (my son had never been), hence the route taken. Would be just as enjoyable to stick to one or two countries and move off the main roads, but because we were covering some serious mileage, we stuck to the main motorways. Petrol and tolls were pretty expensive, petrol costs for our trip was approx 600 euros and tolls were about 150 euros. I can post more details if anyone is interested

Nice one Pascal - the kind of trip I've been longing to do for some time. Will have to have a chat with you about your itinerary and places to stay. Some scenery but pity about the drop of rain in Monaco - at least you avoided the 16 inches of rain in the Var region otherwise it's that boat you'd have needed.
