Some buying advice

Postby Uncle B » Sun, 21 Aug 2011 2:02 +0000

Hi all,

I joined a while ago (probably a year or so at this stage) but I've forgotten my details!
Anyway, I'm looking at buying my first '5.
I'm set on a NA but I'm not whether I should go for a 1.6 or 1.8.
As far as I know the 1.8 has better brakes and clutch and the later models has the better Torsen LSD?
I've heard that the 1.6 is a bit zestier and the power difference between the 2 isn't massive (115 vs 130)
Obviously the 1.6 will be slightly cheaper to tax (€140 or so)

I've spotted one on donedeal that takes my fancy.

I think the lip and alloy combined with the stance thanks to the coilovers really help the car look a bit more menacing and masculine. I assume the sticker/decal on the bootlid can be removed.

Just wondering is that car a V-Special as it says in the picture? I wouldn't know how to spot one.

Any other hints/tips/thoughts?

Thanks
Uncle B

1.6 vs 1.8
Try and get a spin both if you can, where are you based?

Here a Eunos model spotter's guide ;-)

Hey Steve,

I'm based in Galway btw

Thanks,
