Re: NCTNow that's really taking the proverbial..did they allow you to remove it????
Re: NCThad my jeep done last week .it failed the tester could not the e mark on one of the tyres. all the tyres are the same brand and condition
Re: NCT
No kid its just take the P..... but that the way the country is now what can you do
Re: NCT
Ah it just take the P..... but that way it is john
Re: NCTheard of one at the weekend about a car that is 7yrs old with only 19000miles on the clock that failed because the tyres were more than 6yr old. might only be an urban legend comming from the fact that this rule has either been introduced or is about to be for the MOT in britain
Re: NCTonly negative issue on my nct report was that my tyres are of a certain age, but didnt fail on it.
You som'bitches couldn't close an umbrella
Re: NCTMy last set of tires on the DC5, Hankook RS2's aren't marked with the E symbol but he still passed them. I had a side light gone as well but he just told me to fix that. Now that's what I call sensible.. No point in failing you on stupid things and he's using his own discretion and a bit of common sense.
In saying that, I had a guy give the GF's car a visual fail because one of the seatbelts was hidden from view (it was behind the fold down seat) I simply took it out, went in and he gave me the cert.. Time waster.. What I think they're doing is trying to get as much 'statistics' as they can.. I.e. the NCTS crowd have found over X amount of faults with cars since they took over from the last crowd etc..
Re: NCTHi all - I'm back It's been a while - hope everyone's in good form and zoom zooming away.
Car resting up all winter so I was mad to get back on the road again but Failed NCT this morning on Exaust Emission (very poor CO 0.06 vol%) and Passenger Windscreen Wiper Spindle I'd appreciate advice on correcting the Emissions problem and J.L. might you, or anyone else, have a wiper spindle lying around
Re: NCT
Hi Tom, been wondering where you've been. Hope you're keeping well. I don't know if the wiper workings from a mk1 will swap with those of a mk2, but if you contact autocheck here on the forum ( otherwise known as Robert from Swords) he's bound to have something to sort you out. If you're unable to get as far as there to collect let me know and I'll figure out a way of getting them to you. As far as the emissions are concerned, might be time to give the engine a good service and treat her to new plugs/filters *(assuming you haven't already done so). After that you're into an area that I know not a lot about, maybe a new o2 sensor?? Great to hear from you again. John
Re: NCTHi John,
Why am I not surprised that you're one of the first to respond - thanks a mill. I was about to send you a text but thought I'd check here first. Went to a mechanic and he suspects that, as plugs oil etc all good and it has a new K&N airfilter fitted, it might be the catalytic convertor - can anyone offer any help with knowledge on this or how to solve the emissions problem? I've only 28 day to get it right.
Re: NCTi had a corolla fail on emissions 7 years ago ,i take out the air filter now, and it has not failed sense
Re: NCThi tom my sons car failed on emissions a while back he put in a petrol additive drove it for a while and it flew through. cant remember what it was but im sure some of the other guys will know what it is
Re: NCTif you have a k&n panel filter or cone filter remove it and refit the standard airbox
Sometimes when these filters are too oily it can ruin your mass airflow sensor ( its a hotwire type) check you have the maf , plugged in first. airleak on intake tract bad cat or o2 sensor
Re: NCTyeah we have wiper linkage for mk2 and possibly the aftermarket air filter is effecting the emissions but if you put 1 ltr of dipethane (available in any good motor factor)and PUT THE FULL 1 LTR IN at low fuel the day before you do your retest it will pass no problem as the car is basically running on a mix of petrol/dipethane.I have done this about 10 times without fail. ignore the instructions on the bottle!!!!!!call me if you need anymore details .Thanks Robert
