Hello all,
This summer it's ten years I have my NA MX5 http://homepage.eircom.net/~simonrees/mx5may2004.jpg. Have to say, till the moment I drove an MX5, cars were pretty much functional for me. Yes, I liked to drive the cars & my old Civic ESi was fun... then I sat in an mX5 and my driving world changed .
And ten years (less 2 months) later it's still sitting out front. Rather more pink (it badly wants a polish) and battered (heck, it's my do-anything car). Still puts a smile on my face . Haven't been to a meeting for ages, what with one thing & another, but one day I'll show up again.
Now then, perhaps I can beg some advice:
- first, some skanks slashed my roof in a few places a while back in the long term DUB car park. Feckers were so stupid that they did not realise that a) at least one door was unlocked & b) it was alarmed, so when they opened the door from the inside, it made noise & they ran off. I know this because they left the theft kit - multimeter, crimps an' all - under the back wheel. Fuckwits. Have used quickpark ever since without problems. Anyways...
So anyway, this was over a year ago & I patched the roof from the inside using evo-stik or whatever & a bit of old roof. It sealed fine but with freqent opening & closing the glue has come apart & it leaks again. After last night's downpour I was sitting on a binbag this morning.
So, any solutions for my roof? Any suggestions for glue / patches that'll put up with repeated opening & closing? Don't want to invest in a new soft top really...

...which brings me to my second question. Am idly thinking of buying a used NC with a retractable hardtop. Price is a good bit higher than I'd like (around EUR 10k) but still I like the idea at least. Anyone here own one? Anyone driven one? Any comments? They ain't as beautiful as the NA, but then modern cars ain't, eh?
Happy motoring, all
Simon
