Postby james » Fri, 26 Oct 2012 10:02 +0000

when my 5 is cold it is hard to change 1st - 2nd and sometimes 3rd
i am just after draning and replacing all the old fluid with brand new stuff
i also dissassembled both cylinders
the slave is 6.5/10 and i will replace it

it hard to get into and some time out of first
second gear is just plain hard to get into

i have replaced the oil in the box and diff
valvoline is what i used

do any of you people get this problem and have you got any ideas as to what the fault is ?

Its normal enough

I get it in the mx5 nd the s2k. Once the oil is warm it gets around the box and the gears get all lubed up.. its not an issue As long as you arent grinding.

Also, if the slave is leaky itll cause trouble too so change it.. get it off autolinkuk.co.uk

possibly slight wear in the bearings in the gearbox causing the gear shafts to drop slightly.Usually happens around 100k but sooner if car is being driven hard.A lot of Nissans etc seem to be the same.Gearbox is only around 150e from us so dont worry about it .!!

Sounds very like the slave cylinder is on its last legs.

Sounds like slave cylinder mine got so bad could not get gear at all
Pull back rubber on slave and see does any oil drop out, if it does replace slave or rubber inside slave.

Why replace the seals when the cylinder could be scored from ware

i found a cylinder on bay for like E35 delivered

i am reading that it could be to do with the gear oil

gl5 is what i used but gl4 seems to getting good words ??
