Forgot to say to you, pick up some Tea tree oil in one of the health shops/chemists. Its great stuff for removing tar/marks/etc Steve

Steve, with regards to the tea tree oil.......how did you find this out? I often wonder who was first to, for example, decide to try rubbing tea tree oil onto their car to see what it would do...... A great tip - and I'm sure it is cheaper than the "branded" products. mrges
An Australian friend put me on to it.. it also disolves Ronseal(don't ask how I know), tar, bugs, chewing gum, is a disinfectant, an antiseptic and generally "good for what ails ye".

Tea tree oil also repels fleas and Cleopatra was rumoured to shave her legs with it........(ok,i made the cleopatra story up!)

Of more relevance to the thread - thanks again, Ash, for organising the deal with Detailed Obsession. I have been emailing Gareth over the past few days for advice on what products to use etc. and last night ordered a heap of stuff from him, and got the discount you mentioned. One possible downside to the deal is the shipping costs to Ireland - though not his fault. Given the size/weight of the order I put in I had it shipped to Belfast for the princely sum of £4.95. Had it been sent to Ireland it would have cost upwards of £30! Can't wait for it to arrive and have a good go at getting the swirl marks out of the beemer (black is such a good colour when it is an overcast day and the car is clean.....but on a sunny day every imperfection shows up). mrges
Oh, thats interesting.. the comments below the article are well worth a read for a "balanced" view on the issue. Still... I'll stop using it if the car gets a rash from it.
I've found shipping costs from the UK to be very inconsistant.. 30stlg for how many bottles? Can't be heavier than the 4 tyres that were couriered to me from the UK for 7stlg last month.. (www.camskills.co.uk) Steve

Just checked the mail I got back from Gareth, and he says shipping costs should be between £25 and £30 (so not in excess of £30 as previously stated!). The cost would be so much as I decided, to make me feel better after Chelsea's defeat on Wednesday night, to comfort buy a polishing machine also. In addition, some of the bottles I ordered are 32oz. Perhaps the alloys you ordered are maybe being sent as part of a larger (regular)consignment. I looked at a number of sites, and the rates are comparable. Some sites offered "free shipping" (to the UK), but their prices were about £1 or so dearer per item....so not really free afterall. mrges
