Hey lads, I've noticed over the last few days that I have this grinding/whirring noise when gearing down coming from the back either gearbox or diff. I found this link online and it pretty much sounds exactly like this: http://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=& ... GU&cad=rjtAny ideas on how to fix this as its driving me mad.

Hi Diarmuid, have you replaced the clutch yet or is this a result from afterwards?? I know you bought a new clutch so is it fitted yet.If so and you did not have this noise beforehand ???? Maybe 350e WAS too cheap after all !!!

Yea its the new clutch but the clutch is a quality clutch, and I did over 400 miles this weekend in it so its only now when I got to test it properly so I can't be sure it wasn't there before

Looks like thta might be the issue alright. Also check exhaust heat shields are all tight and no rusty brackets etc as they rattle badly especially ay certain revs etc

So poped out to Robert (autocheck) and we adjusted the PPF which was out, found some loose exhaust components all sorted now except none of them were the problem. I wonder if the spigot baring could be the cause, I completely forgot about it until after the clutch was done

Agreed Robert, this car is throwing up a few surprises, got 4 new tyres fitted to the new (well new to me) ASA 17" rims today and told them to do the camber, tow and tracking as well. It turns out that it was off the scale in the back. But every bit I do is one bit less I guess.....

Can I ask exactly how you adjusted the PPF?
Mine does this, usually on overrun, or on sudden acceleration.
Thanks in advance

Steve posted a drawing of it some time back........

Put a flat edge across the chassis rails and measure A, then adjust if needed.
