Software for IPAQ to run Link datalogging.

Postby sidewaysreilly » Sat, 05 Oct 2013 7:38 +0000

Lads , have datalog programme downloaded but it doesn't seem to want to work on the ipaq. Someone was probably using this before and has experience of it so what im looking for is a programme/software to allow the ipaq to er, datalog.

Anyone?

I believe the software is hw.exe by Matt Rhoten.

yeah, saw your post, I tried contacting the dude who sent it on to me initially but his email address doesn't exist anymore. Also pinged Frank, he's going to have a look too in his archives.
Think the exact name of the zip was : hw-ppcarm.zip (it contained the hw.exe file amongst others).

Have emailed the miatapower mailing list to see if anyone on there has a copy still too.

nice one.
BTW, I had trouble connecting the ipaq initially, it was the cable in the end, needed to use a lot of male/female adaptors to get the right serial cable setup combination. Let me know if you have similar issue and I'll list what I've been using.

Steve,
everything works ok and i can view all the files/ logs but i cant seem to view the log i saved today. Basically the one stored in the ecu is not "viewable" either on the ipaq or when i connect it to my pc. Says its a bin file or something.
Am i correct in thinking that i can change settings in the map/file using the ipaq only or is there something else i need to download?
Also, are there any instructions on the hw file? The read me is vague at best???

Are you using DataLogLab? Its free now and FM are hosting the old site :
http://www.flyinmiata.com/dataloglab/

So, when you have the ipaq hooked up, engine running and data changing in realtime in the display, there should be a "start" (or similar) button near the bottom to kick off a data logging session. Let this run for about 2 mins and then click "stop". Save the file as a txt file using the file conversion option.
You should be able to import that file into DLL now on your pc.

I'll email you a log now, I took it a couple of years ago, so you can see the expected output/format.

Yeah, did it again and did a quick start stop and i got it downloaded. It saved it ok as a .txt. Viewed it thro DLL and all the info came up bar the 3 bottom fuel rows although they show on the IPAQ screen.

Can you change any settings on the ipaq or do you have to do it on DLL and send it back to the ipaq?

As I said , the instructions on the read me file are shite!!
