Cam angel sensor questions

Postby tomtom2004 » Tue, 04 Feb 2014 6:14 +0000

I just bought a 92 1.6 import . It has a few problems and came with some parts the previous owner had purchased but never fitted.

One of this parts is a used cas with 93. And 1.6. Written on it obviously from breakers. I tried to fit this today but I couldn't get it to sit home I though because I could not line up the key , however when I refitted the original sensor I took out I could get that to sit home quite easily .

Is there a knack in lining up the key to the cam and is it possible that the part is the wrong one. The sensors don't look exactly identical but the part that goes into the can does to the eye.

It could be 1.8 cam sensor as the fitting is the same but the body is slightly different shape. We have 1.6 sensors if you need one.086 8226506

Cheers autocheck. I'd say it is the 1.8. one I have. I will try fit it again now that I know it should fit. I got a new Feul pump and filter , I will fit those parts to see where that leaves me and I will the be calling on you for sure. Do you have any style bars for the mk 1

Hi tomtom and welcome.
The part that goes into the cam can only fit one way to avoid being 180 degrees out. Good idea to put a new oil seal on the CAS when putting it in. Common place to have an oil leak.

I agree it was the first job I did on mine.... Easy if you already have it removed and saves hassle in the long run for the sake of a few pence.

Cheers That could explain why i couldn't get it to fit, I will get a new oil seal too, would that be a dealer or motorfactor part.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

You can get them in either and aren't expensive.
As for a style bar I have an original Mk 2 bar and wind deflector that I never fitted but understand it fits the Mk 1 if you are interested.
