Less expensive shipping for Rollbars from UK

Postby RLtd » Fri, 25 Apr 2014 10:23 +0000

Hi folks, I'm possibly bringing a van back from the UK and I need a rollbar for the 5. So, having had a chat with Brian(Merlot man) about the cost of shipping for such an item from the UK, a plan was hatched.

Basically, I plan to visit TR Lane, collect whatever people want, rollbar, full cage, I don't mind. They charge £50GBP to ship a rollbar and I'm sure more for a full cage.
I'm offering to bring them back for €20(approximately 1/3 the cost), regardless of size, which I think is very fair?

I may be tempted to bring back other MX5 parts provided it can be collected from the same place, I don't fancy driving all over the UK to collect stuff.

This will probably be happening within the next week, so you need to put your name in soon.

So, anyone interested?

Also interested, but where do you buy the rollbar in the first place?
Perhaps we could also setup a mini group buy?

I've been looking at the trlane site and there seems to be a 10 working day lead in time on these so I suggest we get list started asap for anyone that's interested. if we have an idea of numbers we can contact them about a group buy.

On ebay they were selling them quite cheap before, slightly above the £220 mark, during the mx5parts sales they were also cheaper, but not sure by how much.

Cheers guys, just an update. I'm looking for a relatively clean jumbo transit, for sensible money. Having seen a few shabby ones here for crazy prices, which were actually UK imports, I'm planning to just get one over there.
So, space shouldn't be an issue as its a big bus, just need to start a group buy. To clarify, I was planning to go to TR Lane. (Cheers Nico for the link)
Guys & gals, have a look at their sitehttp://www.trlanefabs.co.uk/MX5-ROLL-BARS---ROLLCAGES.html
decide what you'd like and we can put an order together. I'd be hoping we can get a decent deal, but we'd need decent numbers first.

Reply from Tim Lane:
"Thanks for your interest in our products. I'm not planning to organise a group buy at the moment but if you would like to send me details of your requirements I will have a look at costings and advise if we could offer a discount"

So, lets say 1 week from now we close this gb, see what deal he'll give and place the order.
Please add the item you'd be keen on buying beside your name.
Cheers.
