Bit of fiddling for Monday!

Postby rhysmate » Sat, 03 May 2014 11:04 +0000

So Nico, his Father and myself popped up to the garage today for some work!
Nico managed to fit a new diff and exhaust to his Dads car! I fitted my tps, trim a bracket that was catching the wheel and also fixed my tuning laptop. A general service amd clutch bleed made sure i could see the day out on Monday :D

Roll on the run!!

Thanks for this Rhysmate!

Earlier that day we fitted 15" wheels

After:

Here is the 3.63 diff with fresh paint, new eBay PU bushes and new driveshaft seals Rhys picked up from Mazda, ready to fit:

And here is the car with the 3.9 diff removed..

The exhaust is a custom "Longlife" stainless one, larger bore and with a sports cat. The 2 silencers are massive, so it doesn't make more noise than with the standard mild steel one, if not less..

I have to thank Robert for all the upgrades!

All together my dad is delighted, the longer gearing makes the car way nicer to drive. He did the whole ~500km trip yesterday on a single tank, so economy also got better. Happy days!

Yeah, I think the gearing is the reason why these cars are a little thirsty for their size.
I recently bought & fitted a Cobalt exhaust that I bought from Moss UK. At first I thought I had the original exhaust on !!
But with the roof down or windows open it definitely sounds much better (and slightly deeper).
