I am also considering same for my mk1 with mk2.5 vvt running gear and best advice so far was to get turbo from Volvo V70 T5 2.5 or similar .Info from Sideways reilly on here.Seems the turbo .s are good ,big and built in dump valve. Also the flange fitting is simple enough and apparently the inlet has nice long curved sweep in.Megasquirt seems to be ecu of choice for most people but it must have vvt facility unless you want to disconnect the vvt.RX8 injectors seem popular for mx5 conversion also.Few people doing the megasquirts but I see a lot of UK lads buying them from "Reverend", member on Nutz but I dont know him personally.I am in touch with several Nutz members so I can enquire for you if you want.Plenty of lads on here with specific information/advice .

I have sold a few 1.8 vvt engines for fitting to mk1 cars which is similar.I can get some onfo for you but you will need ecu and loom. The latest lad bought OMEX ecu which came with the loom to run the vvt part of the engine but not sure on other wiring etc. ecu was 600pounds sterling approx i believe (750euro )
