Got it aligned after fitting new track rod end.
Made up a bracket to hold the battery in place as it is a larger than standard battery so was flying about all over the place, not very safe.
Then tightened the alt and ps belt.
Still got that noise from the engine bay but have found that it seems to go away when the aircon kicks in. Think that it is powersteering pump related??
Going to give the car a good wash now and get it respectable looking for next weekend. Might have to break out the polisher!!

Passed my 5 in the driveway, cursing myself for being out too late last night :( ..can't psyche myself up to do a few little jobs either on the car or around the house.

Might manage to give it a lick and a promise by the Waterford run next weekend :)

Hey Ash and Seán.. Good luck with the engine transplant on Sunday :P

Collectively - LRC's = Little red cars. On the left is 'Crisis', and on the right is 'Midlife' who will ferry me to Waterford. 'Crisis' is still on UK plates and is a little tatty front & rear, but both have had new discs/pads all-round. 'Midlife' has had new style-bars, new window switch, stolen an ashtray from 'Crisis', gotten a tonneau, and awaits arrival of new rear mud-guards. I'm really hoping is him/her combination so they might eventually be persuaded to breed :)

Good thread!

Today I've discovered that my AC pump pulley was sticking and causing a lumpy idle, so I freed it up, put it all back together and re-tensioned the belt. Then I checked the ht leads and cleaned the plugs for good measure. My idle is now silky smooth!

Unfortunately I knocked my oil pan off the garage wall as I was on my way out and covered the passenger side in big splashes of dirty old oil.

Tonight I'm going to remove the seats and shampoo the carpets.

What an exciting life I lead!
