Can someone tell me the difference between a NA8C model and a NB8C model -
the NA8C model shows up as €500 more to clear when VRT'ing the car than the NB8C.

ok, did'nt know that, but how come my NA8C Mk1 is costing €500 more to clear than a NB8C which would be younger, fresher and would therefore be worth more on the open market?
you would think that but this is the tax office. An mx5 will cost more than a jap import and i have discovered an older car with the same milage as a year newer car will cost more in vrt also. better off not trying to understand it
thats unfair Ollie, VRT is a fair and evenhanded way to maintain competitiveness of the Ireland market and perfectly legal......erm?!!? Actually thinking about it, i would go with your original comment.....
When I was clearing my last car, a BMW 325i Sport, they wanted
the guts of €2000 for the VRT. And that was a 1987 car with 106,000 miles on the clock ! Talk about a rip off....... Apparently they watch the VRT website and they increase the VRT for cars that get a lot of enquiries. By all accounts they monitor the online classifieds to see what cars are making what prices. There was an article in the Examiner not too long back about it and how they operate. Isn't VRT supposed to be abolished according to EU law ?
Yup, as far as i am aware, technically its illegal under EU law BUT Ireland get a dispensation
The government make too much money from it so I guess they were
never going to abolish without some sort of struggle. That's one of the advantages of importing something vintage....free VRT !
