My Need For Speed

Postby Eoghanb123 » Wed, 10 Jun 2015 4:51 +0000

Hi everyone,

So I have an mk2.5 and I'd like to get some more power to go that bit quicker. I don't have really have a budget but I'm just wondering is there any mods I can do to produce more power. I have little knowledge of internal workings but I bought this car as a learning curve. Ideally I'd like to turbo it in the future, so are there any things I can put in place now or does the turbo and its supporting mods all have to be put in place together.

If you're going turbo, I'd say get a standalone ecu like a Megasquirt, wideband, good full exhaust and intake and you could get cams too. A good tune with those you should gain a few ponies. And for turbo, you can use the ecu and wideband and half of the exhaust so you can check them off the turbo list. Don't think there is much else to do on n/a I'm afraid.
I highly recommend a 6speed box if you don't have one. They are class. Much quicker acceleration (well it feels like it). Great fun.

Thanks very much for the reply, read a small bit about cams and people suggested performance cams weren't of much if any benefit and stock were solid, also I have a mk2.5 which is NB not NA. I actually bought the car with a stainless steel exhaust in place so that's one less thing!

Save 2k for a turbo set up and resist the temptation to buy anything else cause it just don't work.
You can do it cheaper but you will be fitting shite that will let you down.
