Insulating against heat In a mk2

Hello Steve
We got on very well .
Fitted "DEI tunnel shield "to the underside of the tunnel and got to fit "thermo tec cool -it " on the inside .
No dash out as we figured that we could fit it in very close as it is only 2mm thick , thanks Robert for that advice
I also fitted a jass performance gearstick gator, seems to be a better design than the original .
I made up and fitted some alloy heat shields this morning to cover the exhaust pipe and cat so that should be of some help.
I know that it sounds like overkill but I hate the heat in the cabin on a hot day .........and it lets my OCD go wild !
I have vented quarter lights ordered so they will be fitted soon .
HUGE thanks to Ian for his help and advice as he was the main worker on the day
Anyone got any other ideas or advice because I'm only learning here , remember every day is a school day !

sorry ray ,as always im really bad with the pictures but I promise ill do it the next time im under the car .
Ya Steve ive done the heater cable mod , on right nand drive cars the cable is on the drivers side ,remove the cover under the steering rack an its there .
I drove the car this morning for 20 miles and it did seem cooler even with the roof up so lets hope
Any one got anything else for me ?

im not sure how much of a difference it would make, but id recommend heat wrapping the exhaust. mine was done as far as the cat, but it had gone rotten so i removed it, since then it is definitely warmer in the car, my best guess is that it helped transfer the heat further down the exhaust system.

I did consider that but I've read stories of the wrapping holding in moisture and rotting out the exhaust . I got a price for the zerotec ceramic coating but that was huge money
I wonder If there is a similar coating to the zerotec but for more reasonable money as it is the obvious first step .

there is also a heat resistant spray to stop heat wrap holding moisture, it doesnt stop it 100% but makes a huge difference. basicly you wrap the mani etc then coat it with the spray. this is what i used before http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorspor ... ne-coating.

When the wrap came off what condition was the exhaust in ?

my car has a an apexi manifold, it was on the car when i bought it and doesnt look great anyway as all the shiny stainless has deteriorated over the years, but it wasnt any worse after the heat wrap. id recommend changing it yearly. so if your car was just a summer car id put fresh wrap on each year before it goes into winter storage, that along with the sealing spray and i cant see it doing any harm.
