Getting back out

Postby Pops » Wed, 27 May 2020 11:02 +0000

My mx5 is declared off the road until 1st of June, I'm in two minds whether to extend the off road period or to tax it from June and just get out in it.
After being in lockdown since mid march I'm getting a bit lost for things to do, with the easing of some restrictions I'm very tempted to go for a spin around the county, would be on my own in the car so I don't see how it could affect anybody.
Any opinions?

I think I'll give it a try, the worst that can happen is that I'd be turned around.
Neighbours been all around connemara in the last few weeks with no problems and daughter has been to carlow and back so I'm going to get out in it next month

While doing the Polishing of the wheels I noticed the engine had a slight miss when cold so I thought I might try a new set of plugs to see if it helps.
Very blackened, possibly because it was running on tick over in 3rd gear for so long while I was doing the wheels

I imagine this didn't help

New set of bosch plugs this time

Ya, seems to be back to normal when I started it up, unfortunately can't drive it , waiting for the 1st of June to be able to tax it and get it on the road

Back to the garage for a well deserved rest

Really good to get out and about, 100km of exercise of the brain

Because it behaved itself yesterday I treated it to some new polish.
Xpert-60 luxury carnauba wax, went on pretty well hopefully the results will last, I also picked up some detailer, Xpert express detailer, haven't used it yet so can't comment on it. I only went in for a set of plugs but came out with all that as well Image

Thanks, first time using this polish and after trying many different brands over the years I found this to be the easiest to use with good results

Pulled out one of the new plugs to see if it was sooted up like the old one's, after doing 100km I think it's all okImage
