50% on cigs (about time.. but I think it might backfire on them.. ), 1% on income (I guess thats to fund the 1.5b bailout for builders?)

Just checked it it was 50%! well i don't smoke anyway :)


what the hell is he doing reducing commerial property stamp duty
from 9% to 6% Thats mental we don't need any more offices built there is to many as it is.

Just filled up at a local garage @.......114c/Lt.....good value until midnight!!!!! :lol: :D

Re; Commercial property tax - well, the residential property party is over, so i guess he's trying to stimulate a commercial one.......STUPIDLY!
Shure the IDA all over the country had office's lying idle everywhere as well as private ones.......effing FF.........
Also, taking the medical card of people over 70 - FFS, the hardship this will impose on some of our senior citizens.........but i guess it don'nt matter to Lenihan........as his late dads transplant was paid for with a brown envelope - but i think CJ held onto that one did'nt he?

All i'm saying is that when you think about it petrol is relativity cheap.
I mean Heinz ketchup for example is what €3 a litre which is a product that can be grown.
Petrol which is a dwindling natural resource and has to be drilled at great expense and transported a large distance cost's €1.15 a litre.

I know what you mean Ash, petrol as a commodity is relatively cheap. But given the volume of it that we need to purchase on occasion then any increase in cost is going to hurt.
A bottle of ketchup is gonna last you, say, a month. The equivalent volume of petrol might get you around the corner from the petrol station :P
Anyway, we'll rant about this for a day or two then get back to our everyday activities...making money to pay the bills.
