would agree with ollie re. width. my garage 11foot wide by 24, sorry i didn't make it a few foot wider. if you build a block garage don't forget depending on width and roof you may be able to have a loft for storage etc.

Anyone here know if the corugated galvanised sheets are still available to buy???
My workshop is 45 x 25, 3 link barn type but the sheets are starting to rot on the sea ward side.

Most good hardware stores should be able to sort you out, try some of those "out in the country" co-op type places for farmers, bound to have 'em

Question Stig. Was looking at shed such as yours sheeted to the ground but was advised to get one sheeted down to a block wall instead as there would be a chance of water getting in if sheeted to ground. Have you had any such problems with water getting in....I suppose (just for the ladies) does yours leak :?:

you could, a course of 2 of blocks would be good, It's sommit I considered, but with good gutters and a fall each saide of the shed, I have no leaks.
If you do this, advise the maker so he'd have to make the doors and entrance door a bit longer at the bottom etc...

Hola, not been on the site a while. Fwiw, I work here: http://www.sip-energy.com and I'll be building a new garage for myself in the late spring, using our panels.

I say this based on (and I know some of you have seen/been in, my other garage). I currently have a 12m x 8m, conc block, fully insulated walls and roof, and 'leccy doors. Whilst good, and warmer than most houses, it ain't warm enough for me........ :) I'm getting old, y'see.........knees not the best.

On the PP thing, you're correct. If it's over 25sq me in footprint, you'll need PP. The 'exemption' for 'temporary' structures has long disappeared.

One caveat on all garages: is that a garage by itself won't protect your car. A car stored in a garage devoid of proper airflow, will, in fact, go 'off', quicker. Humidity, you see.......all that moisture will want to go somewhere, and little nooks'n'cranny are the perfect breeding grounds for tinworm.

When I get the finger out, and have actually started, I'll post some pics.
Quick! free up some money for your '5 buy an energy efficient house ! One swallow does not a Summer make....neither is it long enough to put your '5 back together....
