Clutch hyrdaulic system capacity?

Postby JPW » Fri, 09 Oct 2009 11:49 +0000

Hi. Quick question. Has anyone replaced the clutch fluid on their car? Any idea what the system's capacity is? lt doesn't seem to be listed in Rod's famous manual. l have some fluid left over from a recent brake bleed and wanted to check before l start - to make sure l don't run out!

BTW - nice to run into Kamili and Penelope Pitstop at Cars and Coffee Carrickmines last week. Hope to see you there again soon!

Just to add - why l'm doing this:

On a slow commute l find that, as the journey progresses, the clutch bite point moves closer and closer to the floor. When l next drive the car, l find it's back to normal. l'm guessing this is due to degraded fluid getting less effective as it warms up.

How does that diagnosis sound? Anything else l should be considering?

Mine does the same and I assume thats the reason too (mine also needs changing). Can't remember how much it takes, but it wasn't alot AFAIR.

Mine did that for a good while but it was the slave cylinder that went in the end.

l guess my theory was that the system wasn't leaking as the clutch "rights" itself once it's had a chance to cool. And l don't see any decline in the fluid level. Fingers crossed the bleed will sort it for a while.

Liking your sig by the way. Hoping to stick a rotary, a roof and a few extra doors into mine next year ;).
