CAS is the Cam Angle Sensor. works kinda like a distributor. But it is more than likely your fuel filter. Let us know Man!

Hi jay,

I cleaned my injectors with carb cleaner, spray can from motor factors, but I suppose I could have just used petrol.

hi lads, have spent the last few hours on the mx5.

changed filter, took pump out, cleaned filter bag mesh. drained out tank, bit of sediment both on pump and in tank, but not enough to reduce flow.

checked pump fuel delivery in engine bay useing the diaginostics plug, good pressure and it shot a good distance.

cheched plugs,all good,and a good colour.

looked at all the earthing cables, good and tight. inspected fuel lines underneith, all good no damage,or pipes flattened.

have just gone for a drive with petrol cap loose and a mix of 10euro of petrol and a can of injection cleaner.

started engine, again a bit of turning over and peddle pumping, down the road, what do you think??

the bloody same

anybody want cheap mx5

thanks jay

give the wires behind the intake manifold a wiggle with the engine running too while you are in there

The only thing left in fuel delivery is injectors, start engine, long handle screwdriver on back of each injector and listen for constant click. If no click or irregular its hosed....

hi lads,no hair left, ive pulled it all out.

how do i test the cas??

i changed over coil pack there this after noon,no change

the car runs on 4cyl always,so dont think its injectors.

when i drive it and go around a corner it will splutter and die,it will restart then and drive again :o

go around a roundabout and a quarter the way round your buggered, scary to

its a physical thing,its fuel,not ignition,its a fuel thing.

il just have to try a pump and see what happens,il be onto robert for a few loan items to test with.

thanks for all the input

thanks jay

Check there are no cables frayed and earthing out on the body. Could be anywhere from the battery forward. Get someone to rev the car say 3000 rpm in neutral and wiggle all the wiring, bit by bit, circuit by circuit. Check all deutsch plugs on engine loom. Pins can corrode, dislodge. Its probably wiring somewhere.

if you are swapping parts out and borrowing parts to test , how do you know the one you are borrowing is working ?

there are only a few things that would cause this

coilpack - ht leads
cas - if the car is hard to start its a sign its not too healthy
AFM
possibly the fuel rail regulator

whats the timing currently set at ?

if you have checked all those and still have the problem , break it for parts.

Actually get 12v led from radionics and run OBD1 testing .... procedure well documented on web .... might also be worth a try....
