I too will eventually join the darksoide

Hey Colin,

FEARGAL here  . Exhsust note is much better now. Alot quieter than it was. Either that or I just can't hear it over the noise of the engine.

Have to put some thought into the heat insulation alright. As with most threads there's a lot of conflicting views on that thread. Hope to get a heat shield of some sort over the turbo and wrap the vulnerable pipes and wires with heat resistant tape. Hadn't thought about the manifold yet but sure we'll see how she goes.

Here's hoping the rain fecks off soon. Bit afraid to go nuts in the wet until i get to know the car in it's new state

Fergal, hi.

I have the same set up, with bipes and O2 clamp (check out the miata turbo forum for this you should pick one up there from 'Older Guy' very cheap addition to sort out fueling on a bandaid set up).

Anyway, i have all the heat issues sorted, if you want to meet up at some stage PM me your mobile. Might be able to make franks for a while on sat morning.

I also have an FM heatsheild for the greddy kit if geese needs some dimensions.

Dont forget the 500 mile no boost run-in.

The best bipes settings i have found are:

Summer (no intercooler as yet)
Base timing 16 degrees
Timing retard under max airflow 8 degrees.
Rev map 2500-3800 rpm
Air temp retard 1 degree for every 70 degree F

Fuel, mostly maxol E5 (99 octane) just to be on the safe side although i have run this on regular 95

Here are the extended bipes instructions.
http://www.gerfitzgerald.com/ad/BipesACU.pdf

If you get frank to tighten up the wastegate actuator a littile (two full turns did it for me) The turbo spools up a lot quicker and should give you a steady 6psi to redline.
The greddy kit out of the box will only make 4.5-5 psi and the waste gate flaps around on deceleration (horrible).

zoom zoom pisssst.

Nice one Ger. That looks like the instructions that blew away alright.

Thanks for the 500 mile no boost warning. I'll stop doing that for a while so. Have only been driving around the city so there haven't been any (many) opportunities really.

Thought you had a similar setup alright. Would love to see what you have done and have a chat. Be great if you were around saturday but if not I'll meet up at some point. I know you've done a lot of research / testing on yours so would be good to hear your experiences.

Yeah Frank reckoned it wasn't putting out the 6 psi at the moment but we should be able to sort that out with the Bipes unit.
