If you go to see a gig do the band have to pay the venue to perform? Your cars are the entertainment.

Believe it or not the big names do have to pay.

I'm not sure if i can make it guys before 2. If i do I'll pay in and see y'all there. Can we have a club BBQ there? I have a large BBQ

Its getting a bit late to send off the registration form now but the mx5 ireland (dare i say.....as a club) has been registered for stand space. If you turn up on the day with a registration form already filled out then you can pay at the gate and come on to the space allotted to us.
So in short
Print the form
Fill it in
Bring it with you on the day (or send it first thing tomorrow morning)
pay your money
enjoy the day

They do? I would have thought that promoters pay for the venue, make tonnes of money and give some of it to the band..

It seems strange to me that people would have to pay to enter their cars, i would have been temped to go anyway but ill be in Norway.. Take photos and put them up.

What's the problem with paying a few Euro to enter. After-all, the proceeds go to a very worthy cause - Cheeverstown House, which does terrific work with the handicapped. We should all thank our lucky stars that we have the health and faculties to enjoy our MX5's and not be too het up over the entry fee, which is NOT a considerable amount to pay for a day's outing.

Pay up and look pleasent

Tom, you are missing my original point. Charity or not classic car entrants are expected to pay an entrance fee, not a voluntary donation. This has become the norm at all shows now. I talked to a friend who is very involved the the classic world and he tells me this topic is regularly discussed on classic car forums.

Obviously I have 10 euro to spare and have nothing against Cheeverstown House, the question I posed was of a more general nature.

The staff at the show are volunteers I'm sure, why not have them pay to work there next year. It's a valid topic for debate, no need to get so worked up.

Maybe a separate thread would have been more appropriate for a discussion on the subject.

And by the way,

I thank my lucky stars every day for my health and that of my family.

No sweat Ger, I'm not in the least worked up.
I'm sure there will be an admission fee on the day, what it is I don't know, however, it is hardly much less that the entry fee of €10 for car, driver and passenger. So my my point was that it was not a lot to pay for the day's outing.
Down the years I have been involved in fundraising for several charities and while it is hard work it is also very rewarding, therefore, I can understand why the organisers of the Classic show would charge an entry fee as well as taking an admission at the gate. They need to cover all costs in the hope that the named charity gets a greater benefit. As well as it being a show it would appear that, on the day, there are prizes to be had for the best exhibits, club stand etc.- not that I'd expect to win anything - so I suspect that the entry fee is helping to defray some of the cost of prizes, printing, venue charge, insurance etc.

My comment about thanking our lucky stars was not directed at you or anyone else. If you thought I was being personal, I apologies. The point I was trying to make, obviously not too elequently, was that having seen, first hand, the great work that places like Cheeverstown House does for the handicapped we should all be grateful to have our health and to pay a small entry fee is not something we should be too botherd about.

To you and yours, good health and safe driving.

Tom.

What's the count for the Terenure Show?

Received my entry number etc. by return post during the week and I note that NO charcoal BBQ's allowed, however, didn't say no gas BBQ's. It'll be a long day - so, just in case someone decide to ban them too, bring some sarnies.
I also heard a radio advert. today publicising the show.

I suppose the ban on charcoal barbecues might have something to do with the smokeless fuels directive, either that or they fear that a plethora of bbq's might give a certain air of "campsite" about the event, (trying very hard to be PC on that one)

Fingers crossed I'll get there, sandwiches and bottle of lemonade in tow
