Anything for late October?

Postby TeenaG » Tue, 29 Sep 2009 1:21 +0000

Just wondering what's on the horizon... I'm tied up until late October. Anyone planning anything then? Heard there's a 3-day pumpkin festival in Virginia, anyone know anything about it?
Climbed Elbrus, Island Peak, Kilimanjaro, Elgon, Everest BC, Mulhacen, Elgon, Kayaked the Liffey to the Nile, swam the Liffey, the Lee & packed ten triathlons into a year... catch me blogging on: http://www.teenagates.com

Hi Tena,

There was a tradition of a number of 5'ers heading to the Jazz Festival in Cork. Don't know if anything planned this year, Frank S was the man who usually headed it up.

Anything happening this year Frank?

yes, I hail from Virginia and its a cracking little festival, and a unique one too.
They do a really cool night time procession with a carnival style in the evening darkness thru the town and down to lough ramor shoreline and its truely a wonderful nocurnal sight, for all ages. It's kinda like Spraoi in Waterford.
Then during the day, there's plenty going on too and its all free.
I was at all of it last year with my wife and 2 young un's and my kids loved it, especially my son.

Hi Teena

I mentioned 'The Cork Jazz Festival' weekend back in February but was met with silence and tumbleweeds. I went ahead and booked accomodation but.... am going to cancel as it's going to be cheaper for me to go to Paris for the weekend instead of Cork. Or Lisbon. I will be saying 'yes' to Lisbon, methinks
It's a small world after all. It's a small, small world

Thanks guys. I've been saying for years I should go to Cork for the jazz festival, but never quite make it. The website on the Pumpkin festival in Virginia was great - I love the idea of that night-time parade, and the site says Bellx1 are playing on Saturday night. This might be a goer for me.

Hi

Virginia Festival looks great fun. I want to be a kid again! Or if I had one at least I would have an excuse to go to all the fun kids events depsite the fact they probably wouldn't want their mad ma there LOL ;-) Don't think it would be a good idea to leave my dogs with all the bangers and fireworks driving them mad!

Hi All

Went to the tyre kicking over in Carrickmines good fun met with some nice people some fantastic cars. The Honda S2000 gang would be interested in joining up for a top down drive around Wicklow or where ever what do yus think? Anyone interested? There are only a few of them.

Would be very interested, really enjoyed the last trip to Wicklow. However, from my small knowledge of the S2000, we might have fun trying to keep up, they have some poke!
