Re: Those where the days.....well get another one lad.

Re: Those where the days.....

Re: Those where the days.....OH BEGOD I DO.......A HERALD WITH A STRAIGHT 6 UP FRONT.

Re: Those where the days.....
Course it was! It was BLACK!! Should have bought a red one...
Re: Those where the days.....
What was your fav Steve, one of the old mercs?
Re: Those where the days.....yeah... old Mercs are great! I think the 1600cc Fuel injected Beetle wins out though (despite reverse gear going AWOL randomly).. can't beat that aircooled dubdubdub..
Re: Those where the days.....Am I allowed to answer if it was a 1983 Ford Fiesta?
Loved that car. Was my first. Had great fun in her. Drove it sometimes too
Re: Those where the days.....Hmmm...
Saab 95 Estate... 1966 I think... Great car - my first. 2 stroke engine (had to add the oil to the petrol) semi automatic transmission with column mounted shift, bench front seat, inboard brakes, fold down extra row of seats in the back.... great stuff and all ahead of its time - except the 2 stroke... Plugs oiled up regularly and were difficult to find - had to always have a spare set handy... morris minor traveller - starting handle most useful feature and never had to get a jump start....
Re: Those where the days.....
Did you manage to avoid breaking your wrist with the crank handle???
Re: Those where the days.....Mine was a '64 Hillman Imp - what a go'er. Drove the 184 miles from Cashel (6a.m.departure) arrived Monaghan town 9:15a.m. and that was lonnng before your fancy motorway's -clipped a pheasent on the road somewhere between Ardee and Carrickmacross.
Re: Those where the days.....1981 Fiesta Supersport.....first car. Silver with red stripes and the rs wheels. Put an xr2 engine and suspension in it and all the other wee bits. Some b***** robbed it and wrecked it in Newry.RUC rang to say they found it but wouldnt venture into that particular estate. Got a few lads to go up but was robbed again by Joyriders.Got it back eventually minus wheels and they had driven it without water to the extent that the coolant overflow bottle was melted! Great old engine tho.....new rad and oil and it started fine. Sold it for parts and the engine was going well 5 years later without being touched. Mad thing to go around corners but flat out at 105. It saw Molls gap a few times tho.
If only they would make lightweight Cars again with no frills. The perfection of a Car's beauty is that nothing should be there for beauty's sake.
Re: Those where the days.....You wouldn't see Molls Gap today - it's impassible with a flood.
