sweet looks like we have a winner - want something subtle enough alright - perfect :D

Mazda speed looks like a good idea too - not mad on drilling holes in bodywork to bolt in a cage if i can avoid it , but if needs be the tl cage can be accommodated !

Don't think it would withstand a roll tbh, try a harddog.

Yes it will as its designed to do so.

+1
and whatever you have, you're in trouble if you roll her anyways

The sills look like they'll need doing.. also noticed a rust looking colour round the bolt holes in the front cross member under the bonnet. I'd check it carefully for rust elsewhere.
Barney, didn't get 5 mins to download/resize/put those pics up yesterday, sorry about that.

black is still the colour preference - I'm in the situation of having a limited budget to buy either 2 cheap cars or one good mx5 with the hardtop and bits i want but I'm at the hands of the people who will be driving it 99% of the time !

I'l run those pics by the mum and sister - the missus reckons it's a bit too lairy for the mammy:D

the thick plottens!!!

are you sure about that?

I had a look at the mazdaspeed bar at the last run, it bolts to the seat belt towers, the bars facing the boot sit on the parcel shelf as far as i remember.

The harddog bolts to the chassis in 8 locations with 20 bolts and 4 under chassis steel plates.

Not very easy to fit and only uses existing holes for mounting at 4 points.
As you can see the side impact is greatly increased with a full size plated bar going from left to right.

I'm not trying to dis the mazda bar but I think its more of a style bar. If its not plated to the chassis then its not a roll bar. Style bars have been known to fold forward in a roll, imagine that if you will.

Ger,
I dunno what MS rollbar you were looking at, but it was'nt mine. Mine does not bolt to the parcel shelf, it goes thru that and is bolted to the chassis not unlike the HD one there you posted.
Any style bar will fold, totally agree - i'd rather not have one at all tbh.

I hate white cars as a general rule but this car has everything i want really for shag all and it doesn't look rusty

i could spend the rest of the cash making it into a track whoore Mnnnn

what's the general consensus on repainting it in satin black?
:D

and who are this A&R crowd with the roll bar - I've never heard of them? :cyclops:

Know what? I like that colour, very mysterious. Wonder is it hard to maintain? What would be the regime in terms of waxing etc.,??

PS: More importantly, will it (In the words of the Rolling Stones) fade to gray??
