Ok .. so the "plan" would be

Leave Ireland on a Monday
Drive UK Monday, staying in UK Monday night
Tunnel to France Tuesday am arrive ring Tuesday evening
Ring Wednesday and Thursday
Leave ring Friday am (early)
Tunnel to UK Friday afternoon
Drive through the evening to Pembroke for 2:45am ferry
Home Saturday for breakkie

Via the UK that's a hell of a long day back. Am I going against the spirit of the "road trip"?

The Roscoff/Rosslaire ferry goes at 18:30 on Friday, that might be an option.

Academic for me I guess as I'll be leaving you guys in Nurberg to travel south and will def go home via direct route!

Both Stig and John seem to be going for the end April/beginning May. That work for everyone else?

after reading that, I leaning towards the ferry now - get on board, chill, coffee, the craic, dinner, few drinks, some sleep, brekkie and then a thrash to the ring!
It'll just as cheap due to the saving on petrol and easier on the body!
I dislike overnights on the irish sea on the ferry, I'd rather be asleep on my way/or way back to france.

I guess this is where I am coming from too Stig. My first priority is cost. As I'm coming back a different time, it's no odds to you guys what I'm doing, but out of interest, I'll be on the Ferry from Roscoff or Cherbourg, depending when we go.

My return drive is going to be 8 hours minimum so I suspect I will stop off in Paris for a night on the way back up .. yum! As I'll be on my todd without you lot I'm hoping to narrow the possibilities of being stuck anywhere. At least I can be towed to the Ferry port of I leave direct from France.

I would really like to know the when tho. We can work the details later can't we?

S

PS do any of you guys IM or is the chat room function still available? Perhaps we can get everyone online for a group chat later this evening?

Shenab, Versailles is a great alternative for an overnight on the run back up,
can recommend this place, mc cheapness, on a quiet street but near restaurants/the Chateau :

Sept is out for me! Still if all you guys are happy with that ..go ahead, I can just carry on with the Swiss side of my trip.

Also looks like CashelMx5's charity run is on the weekend of April 29th
