Rocky Road to Dublin....?

Postby TeenaG » Tue, 16 Mar 2010 2:16 +0000

.... Hello gang...

Do you think we could have a fund-raiser, maybe attached to our Cannonball Run, to buy Galway County Council a roller.....?

I love Galway, and indeed all those lovely new roads to the West.... but the damned gravel chippings that they've got laid down everywhere, have beaten the crap out of the '5 over the weekend.

I've got 3 small pebble shaped depression in my driver's door.

Any ideas or tricks?
Climbed Elbrus, Island Peak, Kilimanjaro, Elgon, Everest BC, Mulhacen, Elgon, Kayaked the Liffey to the Nile, swam the Liffey, the Lee & packed ten triathlons into a year... catch me blogging on: http://www.teenagates.com

Where in Galway were you?
The roads are mostly fine around the city, but Galway to Gort is brutal (they've even large mobile lit up signs warning you about the pot holes at the N18/N6 junction). Have heard its fairly bad in the rest of the county too.

Lots of giving out about similar :

Classic Steve, thanks.

Drove down the m4/m6 ....brilliant.

Then pulled off at Ballinasloe for Portumna....(@ Garbally) and discovered the road had disappeared!!!! swung a u, and headed back to Ballinasloe to find the diversion signs, which were posted on the retreat, instead of the advance.. hillarious.

Anyway had a lovely two days driving around Portumna and Ballinasloe to see relations etc... but yeah, the stone chips were deadly. Mind you, at least Galway County Council can afford road repairs - haven't seen a chip in months in Dublin (and I'm not talking about my diet!).
