but not sure if the bulb can be replaced in these? Seem pretty pricey to me!

I also saw something on a previous thread about some replacement units not being NCT compatible?
Thanks...

Mk 1 Headlamp unit - replace bulbAhoy hoy... just wondering if anyone knows where I could pick up a headlamp unit for Mk1. My mechanic figures the lamps on my Mk1 are not going to pass NCT as he can't focus them properly. I know you can't just replace the bulb as the unit is sealed. Does anyone know if it's possible to get a replacement unit that you can actually replace the bulb on rather than having to replace the whole lamp whenever the bulb goes? I saw these on mx5 parts:

Re: Mk 1 Headlamp unit - replace bulbNot sure about the NCT regs re sealed beam lamps... sealed beam lamps aren't the brightest so I'd change them anyway.
I find these V.good : http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info. ... ts_id/1148 (they also work well with HIDs)
![]() Mk 1 Headlamp unit - replace bulbYeah sealed beams aren't great unless you drive an off roader that has to deal with a lot of water. I have ones similar to link steve posted and the light out put is loads better. That said though sealed beams should be fine for the nct, unless the reflector suffice on the back is damaged.

Mk 1 Headlamp unit - replace bulbThat's great lads, thanks for the input. Will look into those. As I say, ideally I'd like a unit in which the bulbs can be replaced separately... I guess that means I don't want a sealed unit. Will check out the motor factors. Otherwise the lamps from mx5parts look pretty good.
Cheers
Re:Mk 1 Headlamp unit - replace bulbi picked up a set of un sealed lamps from the motor factors:) wasnt any trouble to get them at all... the sealed lamps i had first caused problems when attempting to align them so this would be the best way forward.
