My Ipod Holder Mod

Postby s-mac » Fri, 20 Aug 2010 9:52 +0000

Modified the existing cubby hole thing to hold my ipod, by using part of an old docking unit i had laying around.
Then extended the existing cable from the headunit under the center console to where the ipod now sits.

the toggles and knobs? are they connected to an amp? Have you discarded the radio completely?

Got the wheel off a guy on mx5nutz.
Yep radio is gone completley, replaced with an amp i got on ebay for €4 or something, it has a built in radio but have'nt got it wired up yet so not sure how good it will be.
The toggles are actually for the electric windows, and the knobs are from a guitar as the ones that came with the amp were just cheap plastic.
Have got a clock to fit between the two switches aswell.

Interesting thread, I have a spare cluster off a mk1 if it's of any use. Could something like this sort out the labelling issue?? I have access to two different types...

Nearly finished now, clock installed and wired up the window switches the other day.
Still have to the amp though, and make a handbrake gaitor.

Wow that looks great mate. Did you make the heater control panel as well? Been looking for something like the one on rev9 to complement my awd dials but they are a fair bit on money.
