In my time of ownership I have fitted a new radiator, rad cap (genuine Mazda), thermostat (genuine Mazda), new horns.
The rear brake calipers have been rebuilt using new seals and pistons. The rear brake disks have also been renewed.
A new replacement plastic rear window has been installed. It is of a heavier duty type which is less prone to cracking.
In May 2010 I had the head gasket replaced which also included four inlet valves being replaced and the usual head skim.
That was at 132,000 miles (212 kms). The car current has 136,750 miles (218,800 kms).
Now the bad points:
The engine is pretty smokey on cold start and requires a few minutes of running before it clears. I had a local garage
diagnose the problem and it is reckoned the head will need to come off again as valve seal(s) is/are the problem.
It doesn't seem to be rings as the smoke clear when the engine is warmer.
Also, the exhaust has a slight blow but far from major.
I have another MX5 (1992 V-Spec) which is my project and I don't have the room or time for both.
Price is €1350 firm. I'll spare you the whinging of what the car stands me cost-wise however I feel the price is fair given
the work required.
