Hi Navin,
I read your post a while ago.

As you can see, I only bothered to register today.

If you read my newbie posts you'll see I'm doing research to find some MX5 people here who might be able to advise me on how stupid or feasible it might be to beg, borrow, steal (haha) a MX5 for a period of 6-8wks in July-August.

Peak season I suppose, so probably tough to do.

For people thinking of selling their MX5, I am interested in 'car-sitting' and caring for someone's car, if I can find anyone keen to loan/half-sell their car.

It might not make sense but I am looking to get an idea of whether people might be interested in such a loan if they don't need the car for whatever the reason, but might be interested in hiring it out for a short time.

While you might not want to think about it yourself, do you think it might make sense to someone who's interested in lending the car and getting some cash for the trouble of it?

Anyway, it looks like you can't part with it, so enjoy it and use it whenever you can. :)

Hi there,

Glad to hear your 5 stayed, hopefully some nice weather will stay around, too. :-)

Now, how this works? You either have a really large ash tray or use really small cups? Asking as I was looking for a solution for a cup holder as not really happy with the one in the arm rest.

I haven't got the cup holder yet, I should get it in the post next week, but it fits in where the ash tray goes on the mark 1. I got mine on eBay but I spotted one on mx5 parts since. It holds two cups or cans and it has an adapter so it can hold larger cups. Here's the link for the one on mx5 parts http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info. ... cts_id/661

I'm kind of the same at the moment. have it up for sale but kind of half hoping nobody calls. Got an offer the other day by email and it was reasonable enough but can't seem to let go.

Well if your not sure about selling it I'd hold off for awhile until your sure. It would be a killer if you sold it and afterwards released that you should of kept it!!!! That's why I decided to keep mine. I've changed a few things inside the car to give it a new look and feel so it's like a new car!! I once changed the steering wheel on a car and it gave the car a totally new feel while driving it!!

Jaffa
How about a trial separation, by renting your car to me? :)

Mrs is returning to Ireland next week and I will arrive after her, middle of next month.

We're hoping to either buy or borrow/rent someone's car for 4-6 weeks.

Here's our fairly rare, Aussie special order model. I need to add some decent pics to the thread; last weekend was what I'd call Irish weather!
