Servicing etc...

Postby malcolmkindness » Fri, 05 Aug 2011 10:38 +0000

Hello all,
Would anyone like to recommend a good, reliable MX5 mechanic to me? I live in Leitrim so somewhere around Enniskillen would be good. I also drive up to Dublin every week but not usually in the MX5. There is nothing wrong with the car at the moment (1991 Mk1), I'm just looking around to find someone for servicing etc.
Please don't suggest I learn to service it myself, I am in my sixties and my days of messing about under cars are over.
Thanks in advance,
Malcolm

Hello again,
I wonder now, does everyone service their own car? Or does no one trust their mechanic?
Cheers,
malcolm

Haha, I'd say a lot of us regulars service our own cars. I know I would rather try anything myself than leave it in to a mechanic.

I service my own and get advice for more technical stuff from my oldman.
He has over 30 years experience and we have, pretty much, dissected my car over the last year.
If you want any servicing in Dublin i can definitively recommend him with very reasonable pricing (about 25-30€ per hour).

Thank you Michael, if I can't find anyone locally I will give you a call. Does you father have a garage?

Hello everyone,
I thought it was about time I posted again, it's been six years now. I still have the car, I found a great mechanic with an interest in Motorsport in Manorhamilton, which is not too far from me so all is good.
Never did get around to organising a run, but the roads around here are lovely for top down driving even if I'm on my own.
Regards to all,
Malcolm

Good to hear that you got sorted in relation to a good mechanic .
The idea of a Leitrim run sounds good so you should try and organise one , you would have a few takers I think .
I'm based in Clare myself and will be trying to organise a run during the summer , of course your very welcome ,as everyone is m to come along and see what's it's like .
Best of luck and safe driving
Brian
