Hi everybody! I have another problem, after the engine finally fixed... One of the alloys has a crack right next to the valve, and nobody can repair it... The tyre started to loose air, so im using the spare wheel now. Not really fun... Im looking for an alloy now. I know its not much chance to find only one. But i dont wanna spend loads of money on the car before christmas... i have the 14 inch original chrome alloys. Thank you!

Afraid I can't help you, but if it is not a structural crack I would definitely try some epoxy resin inside the affected area.

you should try this stuff. slime sl-sd500 tubless tyre sealent this stuff stays liquid inside the rim and the air pressure forces out into all the cracks. its an option other than welding the rim if used you should always put the wheel onto the back of the car

thanx guys all the advices! I tried the welding in 3 different places, and they dont do it for me, cause the valve hole. There was an option to weld the valve hole, and make a new hole on the other side of the alloy. I dont want this, and it would be expensive. I try the tyre sealant first ( i just found on amazon. any ideas in Dublin?) and the next gonna be the tube... Thanks again!!!!

fixing the crack in the alloy / by the valve isnt hard to do ,
what is hard to do- is do the repair then get the wheel rechromed to hide the weld , which will be mega expensive.
chances of finding 1 of these wheels is very very slim.
Good luck

I just found the description of this sealant. It says: SLiME is not intended for use in tires losing pressure from sidewall punctures, bead leaks, damaged rims or faulty valves What do u think?

It's not for the problem your having, all it will do is a temp job of sealing a puncture in the main body of a tire that is the contact with the road. It gets flung against the outside of the tire when driving and as such will not stick to the alloy or side walls. It's more of a puncture repair/get you sorted till you get a proper repair done. As charged RS said its going to be hard to find a replacement one if those, they were a limited edition alloy and one of the lightest alloys they ever made for an mx5.

I think Slime is meant as a puncture sealant. I also know that epoxy resin will do the job if applied properly. Get the tyre off and the wheel into the heat. Grind back the area around the crack lightly to get adhesion and cut a tiny V along the line of the crack. Get yourself a mini pack of SP resins or West resin from a yachty/boat shop , mix the two parts of the resin and add a small bit of light microfibres to stiffen it up and brush on the affected area, when this dries you could put a second very light coat of resin onto the whole area

Finally I fitted a tube in it last week. The guy told me, that no glue or epoxy can repair the crack, just welding. But nobody wants to do the welding, cause the valve hole... I have to check that rim very often, cause the crack is gonna expand. So I stay away from the motorway... I need a new sets of tires. Im thinking to upgrade to 15 inch. Can u tell me JDM alloy brands? Im not good in this. I like those type of wheels, but im afraid its gonna be too expensive.... My cheap favourite is this Wolfrace: http://www.wheels.ie/wheel-details.aspx?ID=1525What do u think? whats the size in 15 inch? 195/50x15, 4x100, 15x7. am i right? What if its 15x6.5? thanx

Check the legality of using a tube in a tubeless tyre. I know someone who could weld it around the drogheda area if your interested.

If you like that style of wheel, check out East Coast Alloys in Ardee. (no connection)
I was looking for that multispoke design earlier this year and they had the best selection/price at the time that I could find.
Got mine in 15" and 195/50/15 tyres.
Worth a call to them. Fitted, balanced and friendly service.

I think the guys in Nutgrove Tyres wouldnt have done it for me if against the law... He wouldnt break the law for 15 eur (that was the cost) My opinion is that this soluton is still safer than the spare wheel...
