Postby Peter W. » Sat, 17 Dec 2011 7:04 +0000

I do have problem while changing up into 2nd gear.i can hear bit of a clanky noise
i've spotted that my upper shift boot is cracked and that small nylon cup on the base of gearleaver is not in perfect codition as well(small crack on one side)
can that be a reason??

Is it a 5 or 6 speed?? Shift booths do cause it on 6 speeds but if the cup is damaged then it will cause trouble.

In the process of putting a 6 speed in mine. Booths done. Check which cup you need as the later ones are larger. Otherwise kit is the same for both mk1 & 2 from mx5parts.
