New Year's Day Cork run.I've been doing a trawl to see what runs have been organised around Cork of late and apart from what seems to have been a very enjoyable day in Tower back during the summer nothing much. Anyway, every New Year's day the vintage bike lads gather in Douglas Village before heading off for a run, usually down to Robertscove for soup and sandwiches and head back before dark. My plan at the moment is to kick a few tyres in Douglas and depending on what kind of a day it is head into West Cork for a quick blast and be back into the city by five or six. What I seem to be doing here is throwing out a feeler to see if anyone wants to join me. I'm not sure what protocol is required to start a run but sure here goes, if anyone is interested let me know. Just got the car back today having had a new alternator fitted and getting itchy feet.
Re: New Year's Day Cork run.Definitely itching for a run but west Cork is too far for me at this time of year.
Re: New Year's Day Cork run.I'd be in for it. Mine just had a service including getting the brakes fixed

Re: New Year's Day Cork run.The plan at the moment is to be at Douglas Court Shopping Centre before eleven. The Vintage bike lads usually start gathering from about ten thirty and move off sometime after eleven, nothing formal at all. Weather depending I am suggesting heading to Garretstown and start hugging the coast line as far as Baltimore. Depending on the time of day we may go further west but I am totally flexible. At no time will we be more than an hour or so from Cork City, I probably will need to be back by around six or so myself. So, time to start a list?

New Year's Day Cork run.I'd easily recommend Paulc as guide for West Cork runs in the future. Some nice backroads covered in a nice pace.

Re: New Year's Day Cork run. Thanks to Lasse and Kieran for the company today. West Cork roads are best sampled in Winter when you have the roads to yourself. This was just a sample, there are plenty more of the same!
