Re: Adj cam ????
Hi, your car has two cams one for inlet and one for exhaust, am guessing it might be fitted with adjustable vernier camwheels like this one which I built for a guy in Cardiff: ![]() We also fitted the engine with 2 exhaust cams instead of one of each (see link to [link2http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CDQQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.diymiata.net%2F%3Fp%3D295&ei=TFF3T-HtNIKphAeAgtmXDQ&usg=AFQjCNEyj0JFudBlqXb3UZB9MWG7CMQIXQ&sig2=bb8ISecWriYqaWecmEOOQw][/link2]exhintake mod) The reason for cutting the cam-cover away to reveal the adjustable camwheels is to allow access for adjustment which is best done while at a rolling road dyno. We obtained a full 10% increase in torque and about 9-10BHP increase @ 13 degrees ign timing. Although it is possible that the previous owner put a standard cam cover back on to make it look standard the insurance or just to prevent debris getting into the cambelt area. You would need to remove the cam cover (new gasket and ht silicone and CAS O ring advised when re-fitting) to check what is fitted, look carefully at the very back of the camshaft on the intake side to see if it looks like it has had the CAS drive chopped off, if it has it may have had the exhintake mod carried out. John Irish/Welsh but dont hold it against me ......
Re: Adj cam ????Cheers for the reply.i posted this ad twice by mistake.iv got alot of responses to the other post.iv also added some pics.maybe u can have a look and c ahat u think.the lads on here reccomended that i putan orignal one back on
Re: Adj cam ????
Ahhha! Found your other thread, its up to you but I would have a look to see if your inlet cam is actually a cut-down exhaust cam first, as the exhintake mod is a good enhancement as the exhaust cam does have more duration even if the actual valve lift is identical to the intake cam (only works with 1. ![]() Irish/Welsh but dont hold it against me ......
Re: Adj cam ????Alrite i wudn really know much about that kinda stuff.its drive good and is nippy enough.ill leave it the way it is for now anyway.thanks for the advice anyway.
And welcome to the site
Re: Adj cam ????
Hey thanks for the welcome Doc, it is possible that if you put it back onto a standard camwheel it might loose the nippyness that you are used to or if you got it dyno`d you might gain a bit but hey if it isnt broke then dont fix it, cheers Irish/Welsh but dont hold it against me ......
