Clunking sound from Drive shaftHi, has anyone come across a 'clunking sound' from mid point under the car (97 Mk1) when you hit throttle? I suspect it is the drive train/shaft. Garage said not major problem but it would be nicer to have a smoother response from acceleration (power is OK) and gear changes
Clunking sound from Drive shaftWould it be ware in the u joint?

![]() Re: Clunking sound from Drive shaftI had this problem with my first MX5. Once it started it got progessively worse. I dropped the prop shaft and it was
indeed the universal/harvey spicer joint that was the problem. As the lads mentioned, it's cheaper and saves hassle to get a good used replacement shaft and fit that. I think I bought mine from Autolink UK for around £30 at the time. 1992 Eunos Roadster BRG V-Spec 1.6
