Mk1 gurgling noise from dash and engine

Hi,

I’ve notice a bubbling water noise from my dash on cold start-ups only for a few seconds
and not every time I start the car either. Today after a drive I turned off the engine and opened the bonnet and
I could hear gurgling noises coming from the back of the engine. The water level is fine and if I squeeze the bottom
hose with the radiator cap off with the engine running I can see that the thermostat is open (the cap was off from cold start).
I’m a bit worried that this is a sign of something serious.

Classic symptom of a broked rad cap...get a new one and make sure you have no air trapped in the system..... raise front, so rad fill point is higher than the rest of the cooling system.... turn on engine and run it upto temp - 20-30 mins
squeeze lower rad pipe a few times...fit cap .job done
